Access:

Access to Butterfly Lodge (local name Cabanas Alinahui) is easy. From Quito, it is a 30-minute flight to Tena followed by a 45-minute ride by vehicle to the lodge. If you prefer, we can arrange a comfortable van with a reliable, conscientious driver to take you from Quito on a day drive over the spine of the Andes, one of the most magnificent mountain ranges in the world, down into the Oriente (the eastern slope of the Andes) and to the lodge. You crest at 13,000 feet, descend the eastern slope through Paramo, mysterious cloud forest, and down into exotic the rainforest of the Oriente, a wonderful way to see the extraordinary diversity of eco-systems found in Ecuador.

Exploring magnificent rainforest, visiting local indigenous villages by canoe, and other excursions are some of the amenities that can be arranged.

Accomodations at Butterfly Lodge

Set in an extensive garden with gravel paths winding through native trees and tropical flowers, each cabin offers a different view. Miradors (pavilions) overlook the river flowing 20 meters below.

Built in the traditional rustic style of Amazonia, each confortable, clean, airy cabin sleeps three comfortably (one double/one single), features a large balcony, covered patio, bathroom and upstairs verandahs.

Double and quad cabins available; reduced rates for groups.

There is much to occupy your time: swimming, gold panning, motorized canoe trips, rainforest excursions (day or night), bird watching, and visits to native villages and a museum.

Delicious meals are served in an open-sided dining room. Purified and bottled water are available and there is a cooler with soft drinks, beer and wine. Come alone, with friends or family, or join a group.
